Inside the oxxell

Graphene and nanotechnology, engineered into a hybrid cell that combines the energy of a battery with the power and endurance of a capacitor.

01 — Principle

A hybrid by design

An Oxxell® cell is a hybrid. Part of its energy is stored electrostatically at nanostructured graphene surfaces, which gives it speed and endurance. Part is stored electrochemically, which gives it energy density. One cell does both jobs.

The result charges from 0 to 100% in under four minutes, delivers up to 3 kW/kg continuously and up to 30C in pulses, and keeps that performance for more than 20,000 cycles.

02 — What it delivers

The numbers that matter

Up to 400 Wh/kg

Ultra high gravimetric and volumetric energy density for longer range and runtime in less space and weight.

Up to 3 kW/kg

Continuous power density for high-performance propulsion, machinery and critical loads.

Up to 30C pulses

Extreme pulse currents for starts, acceleration and peak loads without stressing the cells.

<4 min to 100%

Full charge from empty in under four minutes, wherever the charging infrastructure allows.

20,000+ cycles

Long life that outlasts the systems around it, with fewer replacements and less waste.

−40…+85 °C

Operation across an extremely wide temperature range, without heaters or derating.

03 — Safety

Unprecedented safety

Safety is designed into the cell, not added around it. Oxxell® cells carry no burning risk and no thermal runaway risk. Even when punctured or physically damaged, a cell does not ignite, and it can continue to function until it is discharged. This is a safety margin, not an operating mode: we do not recommend testing it.

  • No burning risk, no thermal runaway risk
  • Can function when punctured or damaged until discharged (not recommended to test)
  • Stable from −40 °C to +85 °C
  • Every cell watched by Oxxell CMS

Cell Management System

A conventional battery BMS limits current to protect fragile cells. Oxxell CMS is designed the other way round: it supports high continuous currents and high power, so high-performance applications get the full capability of every oxxell.

  • High continuous current and power support
  • Cell-level voltage, temperature and health monitoring
  • Peak shaving and fast-charge management
  • Communication with vessel, building and vehicle control systems

06 — Questions

Engineers ask

What kind of storage device is an oxxell?

An Oxxell® cell is a hybrid supercapacitor based on graphene and nanotechnology. It is not a pure EDLC: it combines electrostatic and electrochemical storage, which is why it reaches battery-class energy density with capacitor-class power and cycle life.

Can Oxxell replace my main battery?

Yes. Oxxell systems are designed as the high-performance main battery, with peak shaving built in and a wider operating window in temperature, power, charge speed and lifetime.

What happens if a cell is damaged?

Oxxell cells carry no burning or thermal runaway risk. A punctured or damaged cell does not ignite and can even keep functioning until it is discharged. That is a safety margin, not something to rely on or test: Oxxell CMS flags the affected cell, and it should be inspected and replaced.

How fast can a system charge?

The cells accept a full 0–100% charge in under four minutes. Actual system charge time depends on the charger and grid or shore-power connection available.
